Norwalk, Wisconsin

"Gateway to the tunnels"

The Village of Norwalk is located on State Hwy. 71 and is about four miles southeast of the longest tunnel on the trail. A flood control dam just north of Norwalk provides an additional recreation area.

Norwalk Lake

The Norwalk Lake is a PL-566 Watershed Protection and Flood Prevention Project, sponsored by the Monroe County Soil and Water Conservation District and the United States Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service. It is also known as the Tri-Creek Watershed Project. It's main purpose is to reduce flood damage to the Village of Norwalk. It also reduces flood damage to roads, bridges, culverts and cropland located in the flood plain downstream from the dam.

Welcome to Norwalk

The Lions Club has been active in sprucing up the area where the trail runs through the village. This park area has a restaurant, two excellent shelters, picnic tables, fireplaces, restrooms, showers and a new convenience store nearby.

The Black Squirrel Weekend has been combined with the Tractor pull and chicken barbeque on the 2nd weekend in August. We also have fireworks and a dance that weekend. The 2nd Saturday in September features a Community Pig Roast in the park.
